OSTEOPATHY
Accidents, strains & other trauma
You may have experienced some form of trauma in your life from falls, sport injuries, road traffic accidents. Initially you may not be aware that you have hurt yourself and may experience discomfort for a short while afterwards.
But years later you may come for treatment to manual therapists for aches and pains that don’t resolve, for loss of function and even for depression.
You may have found that any type of treatment only gives short term relief. A whiplash injury for example can affect not only your head and neck but also the shoulders, mid back and the lower spine.
As an osteopath, I can feel the effects of these accidents years later in people’s bodies as a still present strain stopping the body’s natural ability to self heal and rebalance.

These strains over time may predispose the joints to osteoarthritic changes and fatigue as the body is working hard to maintain the best balance and function.
Osteopathic treatment can help resolve these particular imbalances over time. My patients often notice a positive impact on their energy levels and mood once these strains are reduced and their bodies are working at their full potential.
“I have been seeing Sultana when I have needed treatment for at least 10 years I find her very understanding and positive.”
“She always explains how she’s treating me and I always feel much better afterwards. She has recently been helping me recover after a hysterectomy but has also worked on stiff hips, eye problems and many other issues. Coming to see Sultana is a wonderful, healing experience!”

Dental considerations
Even seemingly straightforward dental procedures can cause problems due to positioning of the head in rotation and having the mouth open for long periods of time. All these factors can cause strain to the muscles and ligaments of the jaw and neck.
Patients may experience tension, facial neuralgia, neck and shoulder pain and headaches as a result. Osteopathic treatment can help resolve any tension left in those areas and restore balance and ease.
